UID stands for Unique Identity and is the principal index for any train, bus or ferry service in rail retail systems. As with those services input via ITPS, UIDs used for Manual Services must be unique for any day/date of travel. However that does not mean that more than one example of a UID cannot exist at any one time...

  • The same UID may be used for SX, SO and Sunday variations during the same timetable period - or even for those routes where a different pattern applies each day e.g. a ferry that sails at a different time each day due to tidal conditions.

  • The same UID may be used for the same service over several different timetable periods, as long as the start and end dates do not overlap.
